Le Bettex & Megeve

Megeve

The village of Le Bettex, at an altitude of 1400m, is a 5 minute drive further up the mountain from the chalet and has a large car park. This is the starting point for skiing on the extensive Evasion ski area.

At Le Bettex there are nursery slopes and two ski schools: ESF (Francais), and the International Ski School. There are also a number of shops, ski hire, hotels, bars and restaurants.

From Le Bettex, the gondola runs back down to St Gervais or further up the mountain to 1850m. Chair lifts can then take you to an altitude of 2300m. The 'Domaine Evasion' ski pass allows you to ski this huge area from Le Bettex - 445km of pistes - over the mountain to Megeve, or to St Nicolas and close to the peak of Mont Joly.

Les Contamines

There are plenty of easy and wide intermediate slopes, many with views of Mont Blanc, as well as some more challenging runs, and quite a lot of safe off-piste; and good fast lifts.

This pass also covers the Les Contamines area, 15 mins away by car.

Non-skiers can hire snow shoes at Le Bettex, and ride the Gondola up the mountain for some great walking. There are also good cross-country ski tracks from Le Bettex.

If you want additional skiing options, or the snow conditions are variable, the 'Mont Blanc' regional ski pass covers both the local area and many others around, including Chamonix (35 mins), Les Houches (25mins) and even Courmeyer (50 mins. through the Mont Blanc tunnel.)
